My complaints while swimming are now mostly about my neck. I used to be able to breathe alternately - first one side, then the other. But I now find it really difficult to breathe on the left side. I am off-balance and end up having to grab breaths along with a lot of water. I suspect I have arthritis in my neck. I think that'd explain the problem. But I don't know for sure. I know my neck hurts and is stiff and that never seems to change.

Years ago my friend Terry told me why he moved his head stiffly. He had arthritis in his neck. He said he had asked his doctor about it and said that it hurts when he bends it. His doctor said "Don't bend it then." Terry liked that advice. I don't.
