swim thoughts

Monday I swam after work, and for fifteen minutes had the pool to myself. The rest of the time there were people in it, but it didn't fill up. Yesterday it was full when I arrived so I waited a little while before getting a lane. Then it continued to be full the whole time. As soon as one person left another took her place. I wish I could guess at these things but it's impossible. With so few lanes it is bound to be like this.

Yesterday there were two women in one lane, doing various things together, practically attached to each other. This isn't the first time I've seen something like this. I can't imagine two men doing anything like this. The closest I saw was what appeared to be a father and son,and they took separate lanes.

I have improved. I am a wee wee bit faster and more consistent. My turns are improving, in general. I think part of the improvement comes from the fact that I now take a short break after every five laps. Those "minigoals" get me through it easier and they also refresh me so that when I start the next lap I start with focus on my form. Yet I am still passed by people doing the sidestroke or walking. I am thinking that when it gets a little warmer I will join the masters team here in SLO so I can get a little coaching.
