A change

Today is the last day I work 30 hours a week. Starting tomorrow I go down to 20. Yay! Less money, more time. Of course I will fritter away a lot of it.

I've been traipsing around taking pictures for two little projects lately. Personal projects.

I am checking the connections between trails along the blufftops here in Pismo so I can create a map that shows which go through and which do not and the status of the connections, and link to photos.

My other project is the photographing of the trout in downtown SLO. More on that later.

Both of these projects get me out walking, so it's a combined thing. The places are beautiful or interesting, so that too is a bonus. My feet and legs don't much like the concrete and other hard surfaces but I'm toughing it out.

While pursuing fish the other day I stopped into the Birkenstock's store downtown. It has expanded and includes other brands but these have a similar focus. I learned that Birk does not make anything except sandals in non-leather materials. The salesclerk suggested a line of Earth shoes. I tried some on and ordered some black athletic shoes with a "negative heel". I am excited and hoping.

Go to eBay and search Birkenstocks, Birks, Birki's, Betula.
There are all kinds of Birkenstock shoes besides sandals. They even make knee high boots, loafers, hiking shoes, etc...
I wonder why the clerk told you what she did. I have lot's of Birkies with leather uppers. Hmmm... weird.

Hope to see some more of your pics. I like it when you share your walks.

Perhaps I didn't phrase it right. They have tons of Birks. But non-leather Birks they do not have and Birk does not make (except sandals). I want shoes with no leather in them at all.

I make it really hard for shoe companies. I have big wide feet, bunion toes, and I won't wear leather. I am lucky I find any at all.

Ahhhh...OK....I didn't quite follow all that in your first post.

I have an old pair of earth shoes I wear out in the garden when the weather is damp. They are work horses...I bet mine are 16 years old and still wearable!
