The brochure design is done! I feel good about it. I am still stressing over the right paper, though. I may take the file to Kinko's to ask questions. But they charge a lot more than other places I've checked so we'll see. I need paper that is no heavier than 32 lb, so it will fold by machine, and yet is opaque enough to print two sides well without bleed-through, and that provides good quality printing of photographs. I found something that surely does the printing well and is thick enough but I am not sure about bleeding through. Printing on an ink jet is different from a laserjet.

Problem is also that I designed it using Publisher and I don't have a way to convert to pdf on this computer. I may have to wait until tomorrow, when I am at work. I would love to have this done today but that wouldn't be the worst thing. It's a small run, so there shouldn't be an issue with getting it printed.

As for my dear Mary sim. She has been promoted to cat burglar. She needs to improve her mechanical and body skills. It is hard to keep her in the pool long enough to earn body points. But she's getting better at diving and she does swim longer each time. She also invited Benjamin over and let him bring a friend, and the friend was a young woman who was too friendly with Benjamin. Mary was jealous. I don't know where this will go. Maybe I should create another sim next door to her and try to get them better acquainted. Give up on Benj.

OpenOffice allows you to save Microsoft documents as PDF

Re: http://www.openoffice.org/
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to install OpenOffice a while back but became frustrated and gave up. Then I installed StarOffice, Sun's version of OpenOffice (I think the main improvement is that it is easy to install, frankly). StarOffice doesn't have an equivalent to Publisher, unfortunately, so I can't open the file in there.

I am trying OpenOffice again...heh...wish me well...do you know if it has a Publisher equivalent?

Re: http://www.openoffice.org/
I just installed OpenOffice. Obviously, installation methods have improved. But still no Publisher equivalent. It wouldn't open the file. Sigh. Anyway! Thanks for the suggestion! Now I have four Office programs on this computer! I can compare them and make recommendations.

I also went to Adobe to sign up for free pdf making online. But I have done that before so I changed a few things to make it seem like I am a new customer. So far I have not received approval. I think they are onto me.

mary sim
Do you ever use any cheats to make her improve her skills faster? I used to use cheats with my sims and it made them progress faster. I also used cheats to give my sims more money so that I could buy them more things and make them happier.

Re: mary sim
I haven't used cheats for that purpose, but I did use one to stop aging in both Mary and Judith. They were getting older without getting anywhere.

I may just look for the one for learning skills faster. The younger ones pick up really quickly but even Mary, who is not yet an "elder" is slowing down. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: mary sim
M and I went to Best Buy today and I was looking at the Sims 2 and the big Sims 2 book. Honestly (you'll think this is silly) but your posting about the Sims has gotten me really wanting to play again. I told him that I want Sims 2 for my birthday this year. I doubt he'll remember by then, but I figured I'd plant the seed. The aging aspect looked cool and the aliens and fears...it sounds really fun!

Re: mary sim
I went to Best Buy and they didn't have it! So I went next door to Borders and lo! There it was. So I bought it. I wish I had had it before I started playing Sims2! It really would have saved me some heartache, I am certain. But now I have some ideas.
