I have gotten more interested in creating new Sims and building houses. Last night I created a Sim that sort of looks like me, within my limits of creation, and then I built her a house. The first thing she did when she got into the house was to go to the hot computer on the table and start playing a video game! I think I may have hit the mark this time. Later, I modified a little of the house and built a little patio outside with an outdoor chess table. Judith went out to practice and called a new friend to join her. Not bad!

The Sims still seems somewhat scary to me, perhaps its my voyeuristic character that would get overly hooked on the creations.

But, if there was a Turing option that allowed me to converse, semi-intelligently with my creation my solipsistic joy would be complete.

Thank heaven, I know of no such option. I can see getting so immersed in a conversation with my creation that I would never come up for air.

There is no doubt that they are addictive nonetheless. My grandson spends time with his Sims, too, but from what I am hearing he bulldozes them when they don't behave the way he wants. That's certainly an option. (It doesn't kill them, just puts them in suspended animation until they are put into a new home.) I keep trying to work with them! And when they go bad even so I leave them for a while and work with those who are more amenable.

I could see myself using it as a replacement for my *actual* life. So far I am stearing clear of the Sims. Example being, I could live in the house you have created there! Awesome! Lucky Judith.

I'm afraid at times the lines get blurred! Thanks.

I bought the Sims2 recently, and I find it's a great way to escape from real life. I've designed quite a few houses, even one based on my own. I don't know how to get a screen shot of them though, which is what I presume you did. Would you please let me know how you did it?
I hope you're enjoying the game as much as I am.

I am loving it. I too have created one similar to my own.

If you have a Windows PC, just press Control-Prnt Scrn when the picture is what you want. Then, later, when you close the program, go to a paint program (the Paint program that comes with Windows is fine), open it, start a new (blank) project, and click on "paste" to paste your picture in there. Then you can crop it if you like, which is what I did.

Save it as a jpg if you want to put it online or send it to someone. I hope that works for you!

Thank you very much. I knew there should be a print screen key somewhere, but it wasn't until I got your comment, that I realised it was Prt Scr. I've been wondering what that meant. Doh!
Oh and I think I may be joining 2addicted2sims2 sometime soon.

I hope you do! It is a kick reading about the sims people create. I am not at that point yet, where I have anything unusual to share, but the others give me ideas.

I saw this on a friend of friend's list. There are lots of Sims 2 resources out there, and quite a few forums and mailing lists. If you're interested, I can point you to them. It's nice to see another LJ user who's playing the game. :)

I do belong to the LJ group, 2addicted2sims2, and I have perused some of the resources out there. I have only begun that part right now because I am trying to figure out as much as I can on my own. I'd love to see what you've found!

The big one is Neighborhood 99 -- it's an ezboard forum, with tons of information. Here's the URL:

It was down for maintenance when I tried it, but should be open again soon. You have to apply for membership, but it's well worth it.
