It is indeed an escape, for me. At the same time it is an eye-opener that will go on my page on mental illness. I am learning things about Prozac that I had not read, quite as clearly, in other books, so this fills in some gaps. Most significant is the effect of SSRIs on suicidal tendencies. The researchers knew at the start that these drugs have the effect of causing more people to commit or attempt suicide. They also covered up the evidence that the drugs promote dependence and even marketed them as non-addictive - which I knew.
Anyway, I toyed with the idea of skipping part of work today to read this book! I won't, but the temptation is there.
