I'm not asleep. Having some trouble sleeping.

I'm reading, at last, The War on Freedom by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed. The story this small book tells, in layers upon layers of references and repetition, is that our federal government was informed of the probabilty of an attack on the WTC and other prominent "symbols of American culture" by airplanes, months and even years before it happened. The sources quoted as warning the FBI and CIA and even Bush came from all over the world and from several levels of the intelligence community here.

Does the 9/11 report include these references? Some, I know, are the same - Richard Clark, for example. I have not read the original sources, those that are available (some are interviews with the author) so cannot say with certainty that every report in here is accurate and every warning portrayed accurately. I doubt I will be the one to do all the checking, yet I'm tempted to take a stab at it.

I looked on Amazon.com after getting out of bed, leaving my two purring kitties, and saw an assortment of reviews by readers. Interestingly, the negative reviews tended to be almost one-liners, attacking the author as being a conspiracy theorist and worse. One says to check the original sources, but does not offer any specific information on them. The implications in this book are horrendous, the detailed background of a few statements in Farenheit 9/11, in fact. Moore didn't go as far as to say that the Bush administration actively blocked efforts to prevent these attacks, but that is the conclusion here. I find it hard to believe that anyone who is not stark raving would look the other way when faced with documentation that many arab men, linked to Al Quaeda, were in flight school learning to fly 747s in spite of lacking basic flight knowledge and who were uninterested in learning how to take off or land. Flight school instructors themselves were suspicious and warned authorities. One of these possible hijackers was arrested by the FBI but the rest were left without even questioning.

While much of this information was printed in major newspapers around the world, it doesn't seem to have "caught on". That too worries me and makes me wonder. Am I becoming a conspiracy theorist myself?? It is not likely. I am the last person to latch onto such theories.
