I have been reading some J.D. Salinger - Raise High the Roof Beams, Carpenters, and Seymour, and Introduction. In Seymour, he offers his idea of what his typical reader is like. This reader loves birds. How that made me laugh, as I thought about my bird feeders, the many pictures I have taken of birds, how they lift my spirits just to listen, to watch their little crazed bodies, hearts beating furiously, temperatures like an oven.
