Last night, dance. It was the fifth Thursday of the month, so it was a "dance" more than a class. Karsten and Yiena showed us a basic foxtrot and then played a variety of dances, coming around to those of us who knew not what to do to remind us how the dance went. More or less like a real dance would be, except that they announced which one at the start of each piece of music.

We were decidedly stuck at the samba, not having done that at all. But we got out there and did the others gamely. No fancy stuff, just got around the floor, avoiding other couples. One of the other dancers there told us about a dance in Santa Barbara every Saturday night - ballroom, nice floor ("sprung"). They list the dances on a sign so you know ahead. That sounds like a good place to go. I'm going to look it up.

Next week we start cha cha as I recall. I am determined, this time, to spend a few minutes a day on this step. It takes some practice to get going and my calves will thank me if I give them some time to work up to it. This may mean dancing in the driveway or the street. Or maybe just in the bathroom at work.
