backing up

Last night I started work on backing up files on my large hard drive. I ran a program that came with my previous CD RW drive, which I had since replaced with a faster one. I went through the steps and got the message that the CD had been successfully written, so this morning I went on to make another. Same thing. Then, of course, I thought I had better look at these CDs. Nothing was on either one of them.

Different software came with the new rewriter, but I haven't tracked it down yet. I think my best bet is to find that software and work with it. Of course it is installed on the other drive, but of course it doesn't work.

While going about this stuff I decided a good move is to catalog all of my software. I am going to create a program with Access and list it all, including where I have stored it, what kind of media - floppy or CD. About time, I think. This will help, too, when I reformat the large drive and start to reinstall the programs I will need.
