The sound of the wind in the trees. The feel of the cool breeze against my skin, lifting my hair. The scent of the plants, the feel of the rocks under my feet, the sound of my breaths, coming out noisily from my mouth (I am a mouth-breather). The look of the rocks, the sand, when the shadows of grasses flit across. The feeling inside my lungs, my heart, my legs, knowing I am doing something. The sound of the birds, the distant barking of dogs...oh all right, I didn't hear any dogs. The view of the city from my seat on the rocks above, the view of my car below. I can almost taste every hike. No virtual reality program could ever get it all.
