peace and games

Yesterday at noon Elaine and I joined a demonstration against war on Iraq on the strip. We started at the Bellagio, in front of the fountains, stayed for a while listening (or not) to speeches, then headed down the strip. We did a loop, came back, and it seemed like more poeple joined as we went along. Some estimated about 600 people. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more. For Las Vegas, that's actually meaningful. It's not a town that gets into these kinds of things.

Later, the birthday! Mary bought me a carrot cake, I made a stew, I opened my presents. I got a nice weekly calendar book and a couple of little things from Joey, bought by his dad (very nice of him!),and Mary and Elaine got me...yes!!...the Law and Order computer game! It's great! I love it! I am not a real computer game player but this is right up my alley. I get to be a detective and go through tons of investigation and then I become the assistant district attorney if I actually am able to make an arrest, and take it through the trial. I have started two games already and know I am goofing up. It is going to take some time to get through this. What a terrific time waster! Hot damn!

Today, I meet Elaine's new bf for coffee. Later, don't know. Maybe a trip to a new thrift shop.

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday and Hello!!

I've been playing LJ-roulette tonight. The 'random' button brings up the most mundane and the most interesting. From the pseudo-juvenile to the intellectual elitist, I've been through quite a few this evening. All told though, I give my vote to your journal as the best I came across, for your sincerity and conviction without pretension really are impressive in the sea of people trying to make it all up. I have to admit I am guilty of that myself quite a bit of the time, but true feeling and honest writing just makes my day.

I'd like to add you to my friends list. It'd be a breath of fresh air.

ps...Anyone who is part of grammar whores has to be all right with me! I check in from time to time, but most days there are just too many posts for me to deal with having on my friends list.

Re: Happy Birthday
What a nice post! Thank you very much. I'd be delighted to have such an articulate person on my friends list as well. I know what you mean about the grammar whores postings. I have been paring down the number of communities I have on my friends list for that very reason.

Oh, I missed your birthday. I've been so involved in my own problems, that I missed it. So, I'll wish you a happy today instead. How about that? Once again, really sorry.
