Life with Joey

Wednesday night I brought Joey to the employee holiday party. He fell asleep on the way there, but woke soon after. Still, he was a little slow getting fully awake. We lived through the presentation of awards, during which the servers brought food plates for the children in the bunch, and then we were able to hit the buffet table. I sat with Greg from Engineering, his wife and two children, one of whom is Joey's age.

Joey was sociable once he got going, friendly, alert, and of course totally adorable. It was a kick being there with him by myself.

Santa handed out presents and Joey liked his, which I had slipped in earlier, a memory game. He showed it to anyone who looked the least likely to be interested.

After the party, we went to my place and made gingerbread cookies. We really had a good time, rolling and cutting and watching them bake. When almost all of the dough was used up I let Joey have at it, and there was flour and dough pretty much all over the table. He was having such a great time. It was perfect.

We packed up the cookies and took off for Morro Bay, where we presented our hard work to the crowds. They were gone by four this morning, according to Mary...but why at that time of the morning is another whole story.

Today I took off work early and spent a lot of time with Joey & Mary. Joey is now at my place, coloring, and Mary has gone off to visit friends.

Life isn't bad.
