We took off for the Oceano Lagoon, where we hiked around, feeding the ducks on the way. We used up all of the bread by the time we were about halfway around, but by then the ducks were no longer interested anyway. It was funny for a while - there were a few ducks at first, then more and more - they were clearly following us around, and would dive and fly in when we started throwing bread into the water at the next station.
It was only 1.5 miles, but both of us felt a bit tired by about 3/4 of the way around, and hunted for another bench. But there were no more by then, so we had to tough it through to the end. Joey's a lot stronger than he was a year ago. By the time we got back to the car the nature center was open. We went in there, did some of the hands-on activities, which was nice. Small, accessible, lots of kids, and free. Worked for me.
On the way home Joey said he wanted to go on the slides at my place, and I said sure, and maybe a minute later he fell asleep. He's sleeping now. I think the physical activity was really good for him, and added to the long day we all had yesterday. He may sleep a while.
"Quality time". Good stuff.
