In personal ads people often say they like "walks on the beach". I read it so often I instantly pass on any ad that includes that statement. I do like walking on the beach, but who doesn't? I think the soothing sound of the sea, the feel of the sand between my toes, the wind blowing my hair, all create a very here-and-now experience that is comforting and peaceful.
In today's case, though, my knee would not stop hurting. It did get to a point where I could walk without thinking of it constantly but it was there like an ocean of its own, impossible to ignore.
After I got off the beach I headed for a coffee place up the street and got a latte. Took it with me as I made my way around the block and back to my car.
I don't know if the walk did my knee any good. It doesn't seem so. But it was a kind of minimum exercise, less intense than I normally like, but a minimum I can live with. If I have to suffer with this knee over the weekend there won't be any climbing hikes on the schedule.
