Bike liberation

I unlocked my leaf-clogged bike, pumped up the soft tires as much as I could with my little hand pump, cleaned it off, and took off to the gas station. There I filled the tires more solidly and rode downtown. I stopped at Uptown Espresso for a cup of peach-ginger tea, then took off toward Johnson Avenue. I figured I had not done enough work getting downtown so I needed to do more going home. The climb was invigorating. Most of the way I was riding at a pace slower than that of a runner ahead of me. Near Laurel Lane the road started going downhill, though, so I had the advantage and finally passed her.

It felt so good to be riding again. I feel so free on my bike, under my own power, able to travel far (relatively), cheaply, easily. My throat is a little sore from deep breathing on the uphill slope but that's a nice price to pay.
