I bought a new clothes washer about a year ago. My first new one, a Maytag. I bought Maytag because I have had used ones before and love the way they cleaned and wrung the clothes out and I believe the manufacturer's slogan. Maytag calls itself "the dependability people". So. My warranty runs out soon. I have gotten papers in the mail offering extended protection from Maytag (at a price, of course). And I am asking myself, if Maytag is the dependability people, do I really need this extra protection for an almost-new washer? What are the chances that I will need to call a repairman in the next year, two years, three years? I have been looking at that piece of paper and wondering and I haven't been able to decide.
