being a cat

Simba is sitting near a window, listening to birds chirping outside. He seems to be frustrated. His tail has twitched, he has made strange sounds, frustrated sounds.

It's time I did something. This malaise won't stop on its own. The bed is stripped, ready for the red sheets. After changing the sheets, I'll vacuum and sweep and take out trash. Tidy up the couch, clear a few piles of clutter. Maybe.

bighorn sheep

When we were in Palm Springs we saw a group of bighorn sheep out by the road. It was so astonishing to see that we pulled into the parking lot and Mary took pix with her disposable camera. I saw the pix when I was in Las Vegas and the sheep don't look real. Nobody believes her. It looks like a group of statues.

Lance

So Lance Armstrong did it again. Such an extraordinary athlete. He's amazing. Clearly he has the genetic makeup along with the drive to put it all together. He's my hero these days. I think these endurance events are the ultimate.

And no, I don't think he's an example for others in the sense that hard work and perseverance gets the gold. I think it's terrific that he survived cancer and got back on the bike and picked up where he left off, and I do admire his perseverance, but I also think his body is a rare thing. Others can work as hard, and do, and they aren't going to come close to what he is. I think we're witnessing a rare creature.

I have very little money but I want to get out of the house. I need gas, so I'll get that, then go some place where I can get coffee or tea or whatever and just sit and read, be around other people. I got the place vacuumed and I straightened out the couch, which has a tendency to come apart, and it looks good. I should maybe never sit on it. Either that or get into the habit of putting it together every day.

napping

I just took another nap, second today. Tonight I'm likely to be less sleepy, dang it.

Earlier I went downtown, hung around Downtown Centre, walked a little down Higuera and back, had coffee at Barnes & Noble, after finding and buying three books from the $1 sale table. I left there, thinking of what I need for food, went to Food 4 Less, didn't find what I wanted, left, drove by Dwain's work - thinking maybe his car would be there and maybe I could put his box in it - but it wasn't there - and then to Vons. Bought some minimal groceries. Then I got sleepy again. Lordy.

Kathy

I did Kathy Smith's upper bod workout, timesaver. It's efficient and it always makes me feel like I've done something, even in that short time. I am watching the lower bod workout right now to see if it might be possible to do this one with my leg in its present condition. It doesn't look good that way but maybe I'll try it tomorrow. Maybe.
