It's morning

I had a time getting to sleep last night. My leg wasn't too uncomfortable. I just couldn't get to sleep. That isn't all that unusual for me, of course. So now I am sleepy and wish I didn't have to go to work. Fortunately, I have no appointments or other commitments afterwards. ANd a three-day week (which means I get paid three days, too).

THINGS are nuts

Here at work there are lots of little issues. Crises or near-crises. I am trying to take them one at a time and work through them. One involves something I missed during the planning review process that is likely to cause the owner quite a bit of grief. I hate it when that happens. And I just got a call from someone asking about a requirement for archaeological monitoring and as best as I can make out it isn't required for his project - but some other department may have thought it was. And then I got an archaeological report for another new project that says "California Public Resources Code requires" documentation on all properties over 45 years old. I knew there was something wrong with that, so I had to dig through the California Code and finally found where it mentions 45 years. It says properties over 45 years old *may* be recorded, under certain circumstances. It isn't a requirement in all cases. This particular archaeologist plays fast and loose with reality. Too many years, too many drugs. So it's left to me to make sense of it all.

On top of which I am feeling tired. Maybe that Naproxen really is at fault here. Or maybe just a lack of sleep, again.

One thing at a time. One thing at a time.

the litany

Things bothering me today:

* things I missed in projects that have gotten approvals (arch. monitoring, retaining wall height)
* incomplete arch. report requiring me to do further research myself
* pressure to get a 10-lot subdivision & specific plan on the PC agenda
* complaint about a median on a private drive, requiring me to look up all the details of that complicated approval
* sleepiness and nausea
* tooth ache - the one that caused the emergency a few weeks ago
* knee pain
* bra is twisted in back (closes in front)
* lack of money in bank

I guess that's enough.

hope

It feels like my leg is getting better. I don't know if I am jumping the gun with this, but it doesn't feel quite as tight and I am not having the excruciating pain of a couple of days ago. I can walk without limping much of the time and I can go downstairs without gasping.

I am hot and lazy and uninspired

The fan is on but I am not directly in front of it. The bird feeders are filled but the birds are shunning them after three days or so without seed. I keep checking mail but there isn't anything meaningful there, and I have no idea what I am expecting. There is something pulling me back to bed, or wanting to. Some fine life I lead. Tomorrow, another day.

My knee, though, does seem to be feeling less stiff.

Now I feel like ordering pizza. I never order pizza. Is this a side effect of the naproxen?

(no subject)

Pathetic. I even have my webcam on, transmitting through yahoo messenger, to nobody. To me, to me.

Buffy's over so now what do I watch?

I got hooked on Queer as Folk when I was staying with Elaine - she did it, she did it, she did it. I keep thinking of those characters and wanting to see episode six, which is the next one in line. I am going to go to the video store some time, probably not tonight, to see if they have that episode. If I had a DVD player I could get four episodes at once. oh well.

chat

I went into yahoo chat. I just can't stand it. I started in a 50s+ room, then moved to a books & lit room, where everyone was talking about fantasy writers. Can't stand it can't stand it.

I have no patience sometimes.
