It seemed like my knee hurt a little less when I got out of bed this morning. I slept pretty well, dreamed a lot. I wish I had written down the dreams. I forget them immediately if I don't.

I should be glad that the pain isn't in both knees. But I do feel lopsided, the way I favor that side when I stand.

I am going out in the field this morning to look at some homes. Normally I would look forward to walking out there. Today I hope I don't need to walk much. Damn. I try to camouflage my limp, and sometimes I can psych my way to walking almost normally, fairly fast, for short periods.

home...getting ready...

I have the car in the driveway and the vacuum out there, too, plugged into my long cord. I am going to clean it out, vacuum, then wash the outside. Then I can start packing. There are some things I am bringing that belong to Mary and Elaine and others that they bought at Ikea when we were there in June, so I will be coming home with a much lighter load than I start out with.

one step

I got the car vacuumed. I have had my car for about 20 months now and it has never gotten as dirty as the Corsica did. I am not cleaning it every week but I'm certainly keeping more on top of it. It was a lot easier to clean it out this afternoon than it was when I had the Corsica. Now I get to wash it, which is more fun.

plus and minus

I walked down to the mailbox, thinking maybe I'd ask Charmaine to look in on the cats. I checked the mail, nothing there, and my knee was not much liking the walk, short though it is. Then I remembered Bev! The "office" she works from is right next door on Bullock Lane, and we've become friendly through work, through her coming in often. I went to the office on the off-chance that she might be there. She wasn't, but her dad - I think it was he -was there, and he gave me all her numbers and even let me use the phone there. So I called her and she said she'd be delighted to look in on the cats, that she's a cat person. So she's on her way over here now! Miracle, I swear. I was so worried, had not been able to come up with a person to look in on the beasties.

My knee hurts. I've got to take some naproxen. Hope there is some improvement tomorrow.

closing in

Now all I have to do is pack my clothes and finish putting stuff in the car. Piece of cake, really. Bev came by, loves Simba, is happy to look in on the cats. I am so relieved.
