I am not sure why flylady calls herself that. Her grammar and punctuation is atrocious but her heart is in the right place. I get tons of reminders now about things to do in my house. I am only getting started so I stick with basics, one little habit at a time. She does have some good advice. One reminder: you are never behind. Anything to relieve the guilt.
I made the bed today and yesterday. I set out my clothes last night. I even used a night serum on my skin (taking care of yourself is a big part of the flylady message). I am now about to hunt down 27 more items to throw away.
I'll be lunching with my friend Phyllis in fifteen minutes. She has gone on a diet and has discovered, to her amazement, that she actually is finding overly-rich foods difficult to handle now. She never figured on this. She's been a stalwart, determined enjoyer of unhealthy foods for years.
today i have a session at the gym scheduled. I meet with a trainer type to go over the weight equipment, learn the correct way to use some of the machines. Particularly I want to use the leg press and leg extension stuff correctly so that i can strengthen the Vastus medialus muscle in my legs.
I decided I would weedeat my yard today. I had found the new spool of cutting line yesterday and the weedeater is just about out, so timing is right. BUT. I couldn't get the damned thing off to replace the spool. I couldn't press in where it said to press and turn the locking mechanism. It won't turn. I tried some compressed air in a can and I hit it with a hammer but it didn't help.
See, now, this is the sort of thing my online friends can't help me with. And I can't think of anyone else, sad to say, who can come over here and muscle the thing apart.
I spent an hour with Steve, learning about the machines I will be using. Good stuff. I got my training log to remind me, clearly marked with the names and numbers of the machines and the settings for me. I also learned how to use the treadmill - seems obvious, I know, but I wanted to be sure I got it, and actually rather liked it. I look forward to popping over there now whenever it is convenient for me and is not the rush time of day.
I did Kathy Smith tonight. The time at the gym was mainly introduction, couldn't qualify as a workout. Tomorrow I want to hike. If that doesn't wear me out I might go to the gym and try my new weightlifting routine.
I told the weightlifting guy that I had done bodypump and really liked it but my chiropractor said she'd treated a lot of people for injuries because of it. I said she thought the moves are too fast. He said he thought so too. He tried it and he thought, "wait a minute. I do this stuff for a living and this is too fast for *me*". It was nice that he saw it that way too, didn't try to convince me it was okay for me.
I sure wish I could get that damned weedeater apart. I've changed these spools before but it has been a while and it has been sitting outside. I don't know what to do to loosen it up.
