Kitty Karing

I stayed at the guest house of a friend in Los Angeles recently. He told us (my sister and I) that one of his two cats had died recently. The cat had cancer. When Jamie came into the house in the early morning to feed the cats he found one dead on the living room floor, and the other sitting next to it, crying. Jamie understood that Aida, the remaining cat, was mourning - she has only recently begun to get over it, to eat and act normally.

My cat Stretch is possessive. Whenever another cat is on my lap he pushes himself on my lap, too, only closer to me. This happens without fail - except now. Whenever I am caring for Bullet, feeding him through his tube, Stretch does not bother us. He may lie down next to me but he does not force his way onto my lap.

They feel more than we tend to give them credit for.
