Being and somethingness?

I am reading Arianna Huffington's On Becoming Fearless. It's simply written, a small book, on a subject I love. In many arenas I consider myself fearless, which doesn't mean I never fear anything but rather that I let myself fear it and do it anyway, which is pretty much how Huffington goes about her life.

I am happy with most of the book. But I am now into the spiritual part. In it, she asserts that if you do not believe in a higher being

The alternative is a pessimism and an impatience that despair of life and seek hope either in the end of the world or in worldly panaceas.

Huffington makes the mistake many religious persons do: she can't conceive of a life without a God that is fulfilling, rich, caring. I think I will think on this a bit and write a post to her blog on the subject.
