I started feeling some pain in that foot again this morning. Could this mean I need to take breaks from swimming? Or is there some other reason?

I note: Sunday, after two days of rest, I felt good after swimming, good enough to try out costco. Yesterday, after two swims in a row, I was not feeling good enough to clean out the car. Today? Who knows? I have much to do but will I do it?

I'd see a doctor...
You should see a doctor and have an x-ray, as that jump in the pool could have broken something.

Re: I'd see a doctor...
My guess is that it didn't, because there was no swelling. And given my age, it takes time to heal even little things.

I avoid doctors not only because I don't have insurance but also because they do so little and find out hardly anything just about any time I go in. I only go in for obvious things that I know they can do something about.

But naturally, if this foot thing gets worse I will rethink this!

Re: I'd see a doctor...
Knowing...that SLO is a college town, there is usually a 'free clinic' around, a cheap way to get medical care. Feet are really delicate objects and the small bones can break.

Re: I'd see a doctor...
Good point about the feet. Free clinic? No. None. None whatsoever. There is a decent "urgent care" center in town, but it's quite expensive to go there.

What I need to do, in spite of my resistance, is to find myself a regular doc. Could be one of the clinic doctors or someone else. I used to have one, when I was insured, and they of course had all of my records in one place. Now nobody knows what else has been done or discovered in the past. Could become a serious problem.

Another option, of course, is to get a job with insurance. heheheheh.

Become a student and use the student health services on campus. The cost of tuition would be less than an insurance premium.

Re: I'd see a doctor...
The health centers on both campuses are not very good. And I believe you have to carry a decent load. I thought about this before and looked into it.

I am a student now, because master chorale is a class. It hasn't helped, damn it.

Don't blame th swimming!
Blame Costco! Walking on those concrete floor can hurt, especially mermaid feet like ours! :)

Re: Don't blame th swimming!
No, no, no. I didn't make myself clear. I wasn't blaming the swimming, but asking myself if I would benefit from it more if I alternate days. One day swim, next day don't. I'm testing this theory and others.

Today was my third day in a row swimming and I am no worse off. I am relieved about that. Too soon to draw conclusions but I am noting these things in this journal so I can see if there is a pattern down the line.

Concrete is the worst, that is certain. That's why I don't go for walks around the neighborhood.
