weeds...weeds...weeds...

I feel a bit like Hamlet...

I doubt he ever cut down any jungles, though.

Today, another phase of the yard cleanup. I weedate the stuff near the house, on the driveway side, and did a little cutting on the other side of the driveway. My neighbor is going to be cutting back the hedge over there, so will do a fine job cleaning up, so I needn't worry about that part. Then I grabbed a yard waste wheeler from the trash area and raked and swept and raked and swept and got the driveway looking pretty good. I hauled the near-full wheeler into the backyard and tucked it in there. Tomorrow is soon enough to go on.

Wish I lived nearby--I'd bring my cart and give you a hand!

Yesterday I yanked all the gourd vines out of the garden where they'd taken over. The cart was heaped up with vines. What pure pleasure to dump all that mess on the compost pile!

Today I'll have the pleasure of hoeing out the last of the weeds there, then mowing the yard to tidy up the whole place.

Luckily, our weather is amazingly fall-like (dry and cool in the mornings, meaning no heavy dew on the grass), so I can get started early.

I like the early morning myself. But this last weekend, although I planned to get out and at it early, I didn't.

Your mentioning a compost pile reminds me. I dont have one now but have been meaning to start one, a simple one, using three used shipping pallets and bungie cords. Perhaps now's the time for that.In the meantime I am grateful that at least we have these garden waste-wheelers. They are picked up and used for composting elsewhere, I imagine, or chipped and used for mulch. In any case, the stuff doesn't end up in the landfill.
