Finally

It looks like I will have a housecleaner here this afternoon, cleaning my house. At last.

I found someone I liked and we made arrangements for her to come and do the house and she did not show. Nor did she call or send an email. She vanished. Then I found this new person and we set a date for last Wednesday. But her baby sitter failed to show so we rescheduled. I think we're really on for today.

I'm so excited!

I have to ask...were you tempted to clean up for the housecleaner?

Do I even have to answer that? More to the point, did I clean up for the housekeeper?

The answer is YES. But I have an excuse! I tell myself that I would rather pay her to do the stuff I don't even know has to be done than to do the stuff I can do and don't mind so much. Actually, it's a pretty good excuse! Especially compared to what it might have been a few years ago.

This is great. This is definitely money well spent.

No doubt of it.

She took on the "bones" primarily - walls, doors, shower stalls, light switches, outlet covers, the floors at an intimate level. She was on the floor most of the time and seemed to like it that way (I do have modern conveniences like mops but I know how cleaning a floor with a rag can really do the job better).

She didn't do things like vacuum the futons or clean my furniture. I am of two minds on that. I think overall it's good because that means she is focusing on what I don't do at all, mostly, and I am fine with keeping the furniture up. Also, she asks what I want so I can modify it over time if I think I need to.
