My house is looking almost usable. Not presentable, because the carpet is badly stained, there are holes and other odd things in the walls, outlets are missing covers, furniture is crap...

But with so much put into storage, sold, or given away, there is something resembling room in here. I have moved my computer desk so that there is more room for the chair and it feels more comfortable. I can use the vacuum for a few minutes longer - without having to resort to the hose because of the crowded conditions.

The big question, of course, is: can I do this in my new home? Can I organize things so that they do not take over? I think it's possible. The big thing, with me, is that although I have a lot of stuff I am not afraid to let go when it is not useful or otherwise important to me. I know I hang onto some things way too long but there's no doubt I'm getting better at this.

I've lived in this townhouse for 7 years, longer than I've lived anywhere, and oh my, does it show. Moves are always when I get ruthless and throw away stuff. My second bedroom has become an enormous, unattractive and not very useful closet. I'm hoping to get some cleaning done during my holiday week off.

Which is a long winded way of saying...Go, You!

Here's my theory: if I moved every two years I'd have it under control.

Unfortunately, that ain't gonna happen.
