Paul actually did call the cable company. Three times. Each time he went through the voicemail modem repair process  - rebooting the modem. I do not know how many times I have explained that it is not the modem that is at fault and rebooting it is not the solution. We need a service call to find out what the problem is. So I guess I will be making that call. Soon, probably.

so, does that count as an 'official' call or three, since he was going through modem and reboot process, or not?

I suppose it has to count. It simply did not occur to me that he would avoid speaking to a person, but it should have.
